Project Description
Fuzhou International Airport called an international design competition in 2019 to design the new Terminal 2 and expand the airport in two phases.

During Phase 1 (2030), the airport capacity will expand to 36mppa and will include a 255,000 sqm Terminal 2, a 215,000sqm Ground Transport Center (GTC) that integrates three railway lines, carparks, and a  second runway of 3600m by 60m. Phase 2 (2050) will  see the  addition of a satellite terminal and the expansion of airport capacity (to 72mppa),  Terminal 2 and  the GTC.

CAI partnered with design consortium Central South Architectural Design Institute (CSADI) and Strategic Planning Services (SPS).  The consortium was awarded the Joint First Prize to develop the terminal design in April 2020.

Following the announcement, CAI will be engaged to develop the Humanistic Airport Design Concept, a holistic design strategy that will integrate the passenger service concept, passenger experience, commercial design, and interior design of all passenger terminal facilities.
