The Philippines, Clark International Airport
Changi Airports International (CAI) and its partners won the 25-year concession to operate and maintain Clark International Airport in the Philippines in December 2018.
CAI together with its partners, through the operating company, Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corporation, will develop Clark International Airport into the next premier gateway for North and Central Luzon, linking the region and the rest of the world.
Strategically located at the heart of Central Luzon, the airport is less than 100 km north-west of Manila and well connected to the capital by two major expressways.
The city, also known as the Clark Freeport Zone, welcomes a growing number of business and leisureĀ travellers. It is also the hub for trade and investment, as well as a leisure and recreation centre, for some 23 million surrounding residents.
Clark International Airport currently has 17 airlines serving 31 domestic and international destinations.
The consortium will engage airlines and tourism authorities to expand the network, and further boost the double digit passenger traffic growth the airport has been experiencing over the last few years.
To redefine the passenger experience, the consortium will work with service partners to introduce more hassle-free and efficient processes, and a wider selection of retail and food and beverage options to entice passengers and visitors.
In addition, it will be managing the cargo, general aviation and logistic facilities of the airport.
Work is underway for a new 110,000-sqm passenger terminal at Clark International Airport. Once construction is completed, the consortium will fit out the terminal and prepare it for operations through a comprehensive Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) programme.
When the new terminal opens, it will almost double the airportās capacity to 8 million passengers per annum.
The boost in air connectivity and ease in travel is expected to spur economic development in the region, in tourism, business and employment opportunities.
CAI holds a 15% stake in the consortium.
