Project Description
CAI was engaged by Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited in 2015 to provide technical advisory services – to review the airport master plan, passenger flow and commercial layout – for the new Samui Airport.

Following a traffic study, CAI identified facilities and improvements that the new airport would require to handle the projected increase in traffic over the next 20 years.

CAI made recommendations to enhance the passenger terminal layout, integrating the commercial layout with the passenger flow for a more seamless passenger experience, while taking into consideration the airport’s unique open architecture, and sense of place.

CAI then drew insights from a market survey to develop a commercial strategy to attract sales. The strategy included a detailed retail layout, shop concepts and a product mix that best suit the passenger profiles and their buying patterns.

In 2017, CAI was invited to work with the client’s appointed architect and engineer to turn the Phase 1 concept into design.

CAI is currently working with the client and its consultants to review and finalise the design, according to local requirements and regulations.

When the project moves into the construction phase, CAI will provide project management advisory services, to ensure that the work is carried out in phases that minimise disruptions to airport operations.
